Your Barefoot Beach House

Each beach house at the Club is constructed of the hardwoods that are of great supply in Thailand’s northern forests and are not endangered. These woods have been selected for their natural beauty and durability in Dolphin Bay’s beach environment. They are cut in the supplier’s factory, kiln dried and treated naturally so as to allow for the expansion and contraction of wood in a moderate climate such as Thailand’s. The wood is stained at the Club, and re-stained under our comprehensive care program, to protect it from the light of the sun. The beach houses are raised from the ground to allow the prevailing winds to cool them, and to protect them from moisture and insects.

Wooden houses in a tropical setting are more desirable than those of concrete and tarmac, so often purchased by foreigners in Thailand. It was important at the Club to use hardwood as our principal building material for three reasons. First, the look. The beach houses at the Club are beautiful, in tune with their surroundings and with one another. Also, they are similar in color and materials to traditional Thai dwellings in the area. Second, the concept.

The beach houses at the Club are designed to be dismantled and moved to another location if the owner wishes. This cannot be done with concrete. Finally, pleasure and comfort. Wood houses breathe with the environment, while concrete houses absorb moisture and are prone to cracking. In Dolphin Bay’s breezy climate right next to the gulf of Thailand, wood houses require little air conditioning.

Hardwood as a principal building material is more expensive than other building materials such as concrete. Our partners, architects and suppliers, though, have vast experience in the construction trades, and have managed to keep our pricing below practically anything else in the market This has been done through vigorous control of labor and material costs and competitive bidding by contractors wherever possible.

Of course, the look of a place like the Club is largely determined by the use of green areas, plantings and other spaces such as roads. At the Club all plantings have been accomplished by experienced landscape gardeners. Care has been expended in the maintenance of each and every plant at the Club and its expansive green areas. All landscape gardening, including that on each individual plot, is the responsibility of the Beach Club and included in a single monthly fee.

We have selected hard-wearing felt shingle roofs for all beach houses at the Club for three reasons. First, these roofs last better than any competitive material. Second they can be removed when and if the beach house is dismantled and moved to another location. Finally, they are lighter in weight than ceramic tiles and are more suitable to use on wooden houses.

Everything about the beach house is planned so as to make outdoor living easy in the Club community. We provide options, for example, of hot tub/spas, saunas and outdoor furniture, to make the enjoyment of the purity of nature at the Club possible. Roofs overhang the outdoor areas of the beach houses so that shade is always available.

The interiors of the beach houses at the Club are designed to reflect the spirit of their outward design and to provide a sense of elegance. This has been done with natural hardwoods. All of the floors, with the exception of the bathrooms and kitchen, are stained hardwoods. Likewise, the interior walls are stained hardwoods as well, with a few gypsum walls to accommodate art and give the beach house a feel of expansiveness.

Each beach house comes with three-phase electric and fully fitted kitchens, bathrooms, and air conditioners.
