Hua Hin and the Gulf West Coast
Prachuap Khiri Khan province is the narrowest section in Thailand which is home to distinguished and newly discovered beach resort areas. Neighboring districts near Dolphin Bay such as Hua Hin and Pranburi yield breathtaking natural destinations as well as various resort actvities all within a reach of each other.
Hua Hin was the first beach resort in Thailand and to this day the town combines all the amenities of a twenty-first century holiday destination with the charm and fascination of an active fishing port. Indeed, ever since Hua Hin was discovered in the early 1920s by King Rama VII and became the weekend retreat of choice among Siam’s nobility and upper-class, it has retained all of its natural beauty and cultural charms and attracted those who truly appreciated and were committed to preserving them.
Hua Hin’s stunning beaches, lush mountains, sophistication, tranquility and international-class amenities have been attracting travelers in search of the quintessential beach resort. Home to international cuisine, a variety of shopping experiences, luxury spas, and abundant outdoor activities, Hua Hin offers all residents and visitors a taste of all comforts. Also known as a mecca of golf, Hua Hin has 10 championship golf courses all within a 30-minute radius.
The Dolphin Bay Genuine Teak Luxury Beach Houses community is just a short visit away from the various
attractions, activities, national parks, and other resort lifestyle luxuries that one comes to expect from a top
rate destination.
The attractions of a complete urban centre are only
twenty minutes from Dolphin Bay, in Hua Hin. This
small city has a complete nightclub scene and innumerable
western restaurants. It is internationally acclaimed
as a centre of golf and water sports.
But there is much more. Free of the urban snarl seen
elsewhere in Thailand, Hua Hin is quaint, and crowded
with laughing tourists and their families, particularly
from Europe. Students from the two international universities
taught in English located in Hua Hin are often
seen in the numerous coffee shops around town.
A major factor in choosing Thailand as a home is access
to world-class medical care. There are two modern hospitals
in Hua Hin that offer a wide range of services to
foreigners. Because the King spends much of his time
in Hua Hin, one of these has a state-of -the-art cardiology
clinic and heart unit. Unlike practically anywhere
else in the world outside of major medical communities
in the west, Thailand has become a centre for medical
care at the highest level of sophistication. The reason
those from all over the world flock to Thailand for medical
care is that it costs as little as a tenth of the price of
comparable services in the west. Many health insurers
from western countries, to control their costs, now pay
insured patients for travel to Thailand, operations and
even recovery time at resorts in Thailand.
The spectacle of retailing in Thailand is practically the
national pastime, and is unique in the world. Hua Hin
is no exception with its new Market Village
and many new shopping centres to come.
The Thai love a bargain, however, and there
are discount malls and manufacturers’ outlets
nearby. One of the best-known shoppers’
locations in Hua Hin is the night market and
weekend market, where household goods,
designer garments, textiles, gems, foodstuffs
and everything else ever seen in a traditional
market bursts the boundaries of an entire
street under the night sky.
The working palace of Thailand’s King Bhumibol
is in Hua Hin and there is reverence and
fondness for the city in the hearts of practically
all Thais. On holidays Hua Hin is particularly
festive because of the unseen presence
of the King.
But it is the waters of the Gulf of Thailand that
attract most who visit. Practically everywhere
one looks are the blues and greens of
the Gulf. Despite easy access to the cultural
and modern conveniences of nearby urban
centres, the greatest feeling is that at Dolphin
Bay one can seek refuge from the rest
of the world and watch the fishing boats
arrive on the beach at sundown
